2 weeks of "tests"

I decided to update since that was the goal for the year..keep up with my blog. A lot has happened since I posted last.  In April we had 3 birthdays.  Ashlyn turned 15, Addison turned 6 and I turned 38 (ouch). A lot of birthday goodies and delicious dinners.  Addison is not your typical 6 year old when it comes to food. We have a tradition in our family that has been around since I was a kid to pick what the family eats for dinner on your birthday.  This year I was at work talking to Addison on the phone, and I asked her, "your birthday is tomorrow, what would you like to eat for dinner?" Without any hesitation she said, "Olive Garden". I was surprised and thought somebody in the background prompted her..Steve got on the phone and we were laughing because he thought I suggested it and I thought he suggested it.  Nope. That is what she wanted and she knew it.. so we went to Olive Garden........she ordered macaroni and cheese.??

So besides birthdays, I have had a lot going on.  2 weeks ago I had a "test" almost every day of the week. I have been having issues, getting nauseated frequently and some pain in my stomach.  I seriously thought it was my immune system finally breaking down from all of the sickness I am exposed to every day since starting my new job in Aug 09. I finally decided to visit a GI specialist to see if there was something else wrong. So on Monday; pap and mammo, (just the yearly stuff due-came back A-OK). Tuesday; Endoscopy. Wednesday; pharm test for school. Thursday; Hida scan with RUQ sonogram. The 2nd week: I had a dentist appt for my teeth-dang cavity, my final for Pharmacology (I passed the class with an A-. yay!) and a CT scan for my liver and gallbladder because the Hida scan came back funky....something about a contraction and perfusion of the gallbladder? Today I had my follow up with the specialist to find out the results of all of the tests and he recommended removing my gallbladder. He then sent me to the surgeon..today...the surgeon walked in and said "I was expecting an obese, 50 something year old lady with flatulance according to the test results". Go figure! I told him he had the flatulance part right but not the other stuff!  He was funny.  He said normal gallbladders are supposed to empty at least 35% within 20-30 mins and mine is emptying at "negative 93%", so basically he said it isn't functioning and should be taken out sooner rather than later. I said fabulous! I really don't have ANYTHING else going on in my life right now (can you hear the sarcasm?) so he scheduled me for surgery on Thurs..in 2 days...so much for my "get caught up with all of the crap I put off during last semester and that really needs to be done before next semester starts time!" Oh well, it could be worse, but there is a bonus-he said he is going to fix my herniated belly button. I asked him if he could just tuck and snip and make that area cute again since he will already be working there....he chuckled. I guess that means no. Never hurts to ask! The surgery is supposed to be fairly easy, out patient, down for a few days and no heavy lifting for 2 weeks. I think I can handle it. :)
