Holy smokes. I had my first clinical on Wednesday and am just now recovering. It was exhausting! I was thrown into the "fire" according to the CNA training me. She had me do everything, and that everything included log-rolling a 455 pound princess. Boy was she a princess! She wanted me to do everything for her including place a bed pan beneath her tiny hiny (ok, I know, that is part of the job, but come on! a little help please?). Thank heavens for the gym because it really paid off! Bring It On!
Aside from the princess, I left the clinic feeling grateful that I am able to move around, walk around, brush my own teeth, and pretty much just do whatever needs to be done. The people I helped take care of needed us to do even the simplest of tasks for them-feeding, changing positions etc. I take my life for granted and am glad I had the chance to see that I am pretty dang lucky.
I am inspired by you! I really am. It is awesome to see somebody going after something that is so important to them. I know that in the near future you are going to make an amazing nurse.
ReplyDeleteLove the princess comment!! It made me laugh - when are you going to get me back to the gym??
